Poonam Jindgar is a distinguished sustainability strategist, ESG leader, and business transformation professional currently serving as Vice President & Global Head – ESG and Sustainability at Birlasoft, a leading global IT services company and part of the CKA Birla Group. With over three decades of experience spanning business excellence, quality management, digital transformation, governance, and sustainability, she has emerged as one of India’s leading voices in embedding ESG principles into corporate strategy and long-term value creation.

At Birlasoft, Poonam is responsible for shaping and executing the company’s global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, driving sustainability across business operations, supply chains, stakeholder engagement, and corporate governance. Under her leadership, Birlasoft has established a comprehensive ESG framework aligned with global standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR), CDP, EcoVadis, and the UN Global Compact (UNGC). She has also led the development of the company’s decarbonization roadmap, with commitments to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040 and net-zero emissions by 2050.

A strong advocate of technology-enabled sustainability, Poonam has championed innovative initiatives such as AI-powered ESG reporting tools, ESG-integrated supplier governance, climate risk assessments, and organization-wide sustainability awareness programs. Her leadership has contributed to Birlasoft receiving several prestigious recognitions, including the ESG Champions of India Award and the Sustainable Initiative of the Year Award for its innovative ESG practices.

Prior to leading ESG at Birlasoft, she built an accomplished career in business excellence, quality management, and digital transformation, holding leadership roles with global technology organizations including Microsoft and NIIT Technologies. An IICA Certified ESG Professional, she combines operational excellence with strategic sustainability expertise, enabling organizations to integrate responsible business practices into their core growth agenda.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Poonam is an active thought leader and speaker at national and international forums on ESG, climate action, sustainable business, and responsible governance.
