Vidhi Thukral

Vidhi Thukral is an accomplished environmental lawyer, ESG strategist, and sustainability professional currently serving as Head – Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) at Axis Max Life Insurance Limited (formerly Max Life Insurance). She has played a key role in embedding sustainability into the company’s business strategy, leading initiatives across environmental stewardship, responsible governance, social impact, and regulatory ESG compliance. She currently leads the implementation of Axis Max Life’s ESG framework, working closely with senior leadership to advance the organization’s long-term sustainability agenda.

Vidhi brings a strong interdisciplinary background in law, corporate governance, and environmental policy. She holds an LL.M. in Environmental Law, Energy & Climate Change from Jindal Global Law School in collaboration with WWF-India, along with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). She is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and is enrolled with the Bar Council of India. Her academic and professional journey reflects a deep commitment to environmental governance and sustainable business practices.

Before joining Axis Max Life, Vidhi built extensive experience across government, regulatory, and conservation organizations. She served with WWF-India as Senior Programme Officer – Centre for Environmental Law, where she worked on biodiversity conservation, climate policy, and environmental governance. Earlier, she held legal and regulatory roles with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, and Aviva Life Insurance India, giving her a unique blend of expertise across public policy, regulation, and the private sector.

At Axis Max Life, Vidhi has been instrumental in driving ESG reporting, stakeholder engagement, sustainability strategy, and regulatory disclosures, including the company’s Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR). She has contributed to initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate action, responsible governance, employee engagement, and community development. She also collaborates with academic institutions and industry bodies to promote ESG awareness and capacity building within the financial services sector.

An active thought leader, Vidhi frequently participates in sustainability conferences, executive education programmes, and mentoring initiatives on topics such as ESG regulation, climate governance, sustainable finance, and corporate responsibility. Her work has positioned her among the emerging ESG professionals shaping responsible business practices in India’s insurance industry. Through her leadership, legal expertise, and commitment to sustainable development, Vidhi Thukral continues to strengthen Axis Max Life Insurance’s ESG vision while contributing to the broader advancement of responsible and purpose-driven business practices.
